Saint Ophelia & General Mojo’s at the Open Space
April 27 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Vashon’s Own Saint Ophelia to Rock the Main Hall at the O Space on April 27th in a Double Bill with Seattle Psychedelic Pop Band, General Mojo’s.
Saint Ophelia has been delighting Vashon audiences since 2017 with their Alternative Folk Rock that runs the gamut from groovy to rockin’ to spacious. Singer-songwriter Joseph Panzetta and vocalist Rebekah Kuzma front a stellar band that includes Dan Tyack on pedal steel, Wesley Peterson on drums and Chuck Keller on bass. The uniqueness of their sound lies within the blend of its vocals, musicianship, and eclectic original songs within a vast range of styles. This is what makes listening to Saint Ophelia a unique and visceral experience. The fun is visible in their live performances as the songs seem to move through them rather than from them.
In October of 2018 Saint Ophelia released their eponymous CD to a sold out crowd at the Katherine L White Hall. One of the highlights of the evening was the interplay with General Mojo’s multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews, who sat-in with Saint Ophelia on saxophone, keyboard, piano and clarinet. The idea of a Saint Ophelia/General Mojo’s double bill was born after all the fun of that night. And now it’s going to happen.
General Mojo’s has been serving up their psychedelic pop since 2012. Despite a light hearted approach to stage presence and style, GM provides a serious sound, collecting the hook-laden melodies and complex lucid solo sections. GM is fronted by Dune Butler on vocals and bass, Heather Thomas on vocals and percussion, David Salonen on vocals and guitar, Sam Veatch on drums and percussion, and of course, Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews on vocals, keys and saxophone. General Mojo’s plays both the loose and groovy rock you remember and a buttoned down psychedelic sound you’ve never experienced before.
